School Age Summer Day Camp Program

We are now enrolling students into our School Age Summer Program running May 29th through August 3rd. We have combined last year’s School Age Program and Summer Day Camp program into one amazing program. We are asking all current families involved in our before and after-school program who plan on staying on over the summer to enroll into the program within the next two weeks. Interest in our Summer Day Camp for School Age students has become quite fierce and we want to give our current families first shot at the limited number of spots for this summer’s program.

Check out the activity calendar to see where we will be this summer. Planned activities include museums, fun parks, pools, splash pads, Harkins Summer Movie Program, libraries and more.

Field Trip – Circus

Ms.Lisa’s & Mr.Chad’s PreK classes leave for the Shrine Circus promptly at 8:30 tomorrow/Friday the 23rd.

iPad Learning Environments

We have been looking forward to creating our first iPad learning environment in a preschool classroom this year and today was launch day. Fast Company reported last year that it believes that the iPad will revolution the classroom. Using an iPad 2 and a TV we have created an interactive learning station where students will be able take advantage of some great apps.

The Reading Horizons blog reports that students in a California preschool classroom saw an increase in reading comprehension by using iPads in their classrooms. The children’s scores went from 58.5 to 76.4 percent. That is an incredible increase. We believe that new tools like the iPad will help Harrah Early Learning Center continue to create exceptional environments for your kids to grow.

Ask Director Michelle Stasser to give you a tour of this new environment. We will be downloading many great apps to use in these environment and look forward to sharing some of them with you.

New Fingerprint Reader

This week you will notice the addition of a fingerprint reader at the check-in station. As I have been bringing my two girls to the center in the morning I notice that many of us are dragging kids, carseats, and bags into the center, which makes checking in a cumbersome task. To help improve our security and to speed up the check-in process I have added a fingerprint scanner. To check-in your kids you will place a finger on the scanner instead of having to punch in a series of numbers. The check-in by numbers option will still be available.

To set yourself up to use the fingerprint option you can obtain a registration number from the Front Desk, which you will use to at your next check-in. Setting up your account is as simple as touching the new scanner 4 times to calibrate your id. I hope you will enjoy this new feature and how easy it is to use.

Leading From Love: 1 Corinthians 13:4-8

Below are just a few insights from the verse that helps us understand how very important Love is when guiding and parenting our precious children.

Love is Patient – When you have PATIENCE with your children, you are telling them by your actions that they are WORTH your time. Have patience with your children and watch as your guidance over them rises.

Love always Protects – God has entrusted us all in the care of children. As a parent/guardian/teacher/grandparent/etc..we are all called to protect the children, special gifts from God, at all costs.

As we know children were not asked to be here, but are absolute treasures given to us. So lets Love them by being Patient, Kind, and Protecting them. Remember Love NEVER Fails!!

Valentine Parties

Caring Van

The Caring Van will be here Wednesday the 8th from 9am ~ 12pm

The Caring Van provides free immunizations for children. They recently were at the facility and went through our immunization records. We have a list of children who are due for immunizations. See the front desk if you would like to sign a release for your child/ren to get the shots needed. If you would like to be here with them you will need to be here at 9am.

Trunk or Treat

Harrah Early Learning Center is proud to be a sponsor of this year’s Trunk or treat at Harrah Park on October 29th from 5:00-9:00pm. We will be there to help create a fun place for families to pick up some treats and we would love if you showed up for the fun. We will have a table setup to give away candy and meet new families. Stop by the table to say hello and invite your friends and neighbors to join us for the fun.
